Company introduction
The history of ZAPA concrete began in the early nineties, when it was just a small company with a few employees. Initially, production was carried out at batching stations. The first classic concrete plant operated by ZAPA was in Prague in Kačerov. For financial reasons, the initial expansion of the company was mainly through the rental of older facilities and their gradual modernization. The first market in the Czech Republic was Prague and Central Bohemia, the first center in Moravia was the concrete plant in Hulín. The acquisition of new facilities was rapid, and during the nineties, ZAPA concrete became one of the leading producers on the Czech ready-mix concrete market.
At the end of the same decade, ZAPA concrete was incorporated into the structure of the German Dyckerhoff concern, which later became part of the multinational Buzzi group from Italy. This holding focuses on the production of cement and ready-mix concrete, operating in Europe, Russia, the USA, Mexico, Brazil and North Africa. The company thus stabilized its capital at the turn of the millennium and continued to grow. In 2003, ZAPA beton a.s. became a company with 100% foreign ownership. It gradually strengthened its position on the Slovak market, where it has been present since 2001, and is also active on the Hungarian market. ZAPA beton is also a producer of aggregates.
Production at ZAPA beton a.s. takes place at the level of individual centers (concrete plants or aggregate production plants), in a basic division into the regions of Bohemia and Moravia. The same regional division applies (for ready-mix concrete) to commercial activities. The company's administration - economic and administrative management - is carried out centrally. The company does not have a branch or other part of a commercial plant abroad.
At the beginning of 2023, ZAPA beton a.s. produces concrete in the Czech Republic in 55 concrete plants, 2 quarries, and 1 sand pit. It operates another 2 concrete plants through subsidiaries. In Slovakia, it operates 7 concrete plants and 1 gravel pit. The gravel plant under the name ZAPA beton also operates in Hungary.
ZAPA beton a.s. is one of the founders and active members of the Association of Concrete Producers of the Czech Republic and its subsidiary ZAPA beton SK s.r.o. is a member of the Slovak Association of Ready-mix Concrete Producers. These are professional associations of the most important companies in the field.
